What to watch out for after vaccinating!

Are there any side effects I should watch for after vaccination?

The benefits of vaccinations far outweigh any risks. As with any medical intervention; there can be some side effects. It is recommended that you have your animal vaccinated at a time when you can monitor them after the vaccination. In very rare cases, if your pet does experience a mild reaction to the vaccinations, symptoms may include:

  • Fever

  • Sluggishness

  • Loss of appetite

  • Pain or swelling around the injection site

Some more serious reactions could include:

  • Diarrhoea

  • Facial or paw swelling and/or hives

  • Vomiting

  • Collapse, difficulty breathing, and seizures (anaphylactic shock)

If your pet shows any of the serious signs of an allergic reaction after vaccination, contact a veterinarian immediately. Most reactions occur within the first hour and usually subside within a few days. If they do not subside within this time frame, please call your veterinarian.
